Biography:
Sejal Foxx, Ph.D., is the director of the School Counseling program and the Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision program. Recently, she founded the RISE School Counseling Program in collaboration with the UNC Charlotte Urban Education Collaborative. This program focuses upon innovation, scholarship and engagement designed to cultivate leaders and scholars who will advance the current knowledge-base in urban school counseling.
Foxx is co-author of “School Counseling in the 21st Century,” (sixth ed.) In 2015, she received the Counselor Educator of the Year Award from the North Carolina School Counselors Association. She was appointed a member of the North Carolina School Counseling State Leadership Team and serves as chair of the Higher Education Committee. This committee is designed to identify and strengthen the school counselors’ role in college and career readiness for all students.
She has published more than 20 journal articles and book chapters and has presented more than 100 presentations, workshops and keynotes at the local, state, national and international levels. She teaches both doctoral- and master’s-level courses and her special areas of interest are school counseling, multicultural and social justice, urban education and college and career readiness. Her current research projects include college and career readiness in partnership with local schools.
