What: UNC Charlotte’s Belk College of Business and the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate will release the “2025 State of Housing in Charlotte Report” during a community summit.
When: 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29
Where:The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City, 320 E. 9th St.
About the Report: The astounding growth in the Charlotte region creates a pressing need for homes, and people can struggle to find affordable housing. Now in its seventh year, the State of Housing in Charlotte report offers trusted insights on issues related to owner-occupied, rental and subsidized and public rental housing in the eight-county Charlotte region. Details include:
- A comprehensive assessment of the current housing stock
- An analysis of housing affordability across all income levels
- Comparisons of Charlotte’s housing situation with those of competing markets
- A long-term view of the dynamics of the housing market over the last two decades and a look ahead
About the Summit: The summit will open with findings from Yongqiang Chu, primary researcher for the report, who is director of the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate and Childress Klein Distinguished Professor of Real Estate and Urban Economics. A Q&A with industry experts will follow, with Charisma Southerland of Canopy Realtor® Association, Brian Bradley of Grubb Properties and James Scruggs ‘19 of Kingdom Development. Chandler Lutz, Steven Ott Distinguished Scholar in Real Estate, will moderate. The summit is free and open to the public; a networking reception will follow. Registration is requested.Media Information: To capture production-quality video recordings, media are encouraged to attend the summit in person, as the Zoom option will not provide a television-quality recording. Media may briefly interview Yongqiang Chu in person following his presentation. The report will be posted at realestate.charlotte.edu/research.
Parking: Parking for media is available in the gravel lot across from The Dubois Center between N. Caldwell and Brevard streets (enter via N. Caldwell St.). Media must check-in at the registration table inside the Dubois Center to receive a parking pass to display in their vehicle.
