A native of Charlotte and an alumna of UNC Charlotte, Buffie has facilitated media relations at UNC Charlotte since 2006 maintaining a close partnership with all media markets in North Carolina and is the primary contact for local, regional and national media.
In 2018, she assumed duties related to issues management, an area recently developed in the Office of University Communications, and was appointed director of issues management and external media relations. She serves as a public relations, media relations and reputation management adviser for UNC Charlotte working closely with the Office of Emergency Management and the Crisis Communication Advisory Team.
Previously, Buffie was the Associate Director for Media Relations serving media seeking access to information about UNC Charlotte, strategic initiatives, University leaders and faculty experts.
Her career includes assignments in publishing as an associate editor for Charlotte Magazine and in advertising and public relations as an account executive for two well-established advertising agencies in the Charlotte market.
