Monica Hughes currently serves as the Director of External Relations for The William States Lee College of Engineering, providing strategic communications leadership to help elevate the profile, brand and reputation of the college.
A business professional with three decades of experience, she brings broad insight from her past roles supporting a wide scope of organizations, including government, corporate, small business and higher education. Monica’s Niner career began in 2017 as she joined the Belk College of Business to lead marketing. Previously, she served in communications at UNC Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute. She also brings more than 10 years experience in the financial services industry, where she managed national marketing initiatives with Fortune 100 companies.
Monica has a long history of active community involvement with the American Marketing Association, Meals on Wheels, the YMCA and Girl Scouts of America.
A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations, Monica later completed an MBA from UNC Charlotte’s Belk College, paving her path to now be a proud Alumna Campus Employee.
