Sejal Foxx, Ph.D., is the director of the School Counseling program and the Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision program. Recently, she founded the RISE School Counseling Program in collaboration with the UNC Charlotte Urban Education Collaborative.
Shannon Sullivan is a professor of Philosophy and Health Psychology and chair of the Philosophy Department at UNC Charlotte. She is author or editor of eight books, including most recently "Good White People: The Problem with Middle-Class White Anti-Racism" (2014), "The Physiology of Sexist and Racist Oppression" (2015), and "Feminist Interpretations of William James" (2015).
Sonya Ramsey is an associate professor of History and Women’s and Gender Studies at the UNC Charlotte. An experienced oral historian, she specializes in African American Gender History, the History of Education, and Southern History.
Susan McCarter, Ph.D., MSW, is an Associate Professor of Social Work at UNC Charlotte. Dr. McCarter’s career began as a juvenile probation officer, inner-city mental health counselor, and policy analyst and advocate in Virginia, where she earned her MSW (Clinical) and her Ph.D.
Taryne Mingo, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of school counseling in the Department of Counseling at UNC Charlotte. Dr. Mingo has a professional background in elementary school counseling, racial identity development, and advocating for social justice across P-16 settings.
Tehia Starker Glass, Ph.D., is an associate professor of Elementary Education and Educational Psychology in the Department of Reading and Elementary Education in the Cato College of Education.
Vaughn Schmutz is an associate professor of sociology at UNC Charlotte. Among other things, he studies processes of classification, evaluation, and consecration, most often in the fields of music and world heritage. He is currently a co-editor-in-chief of Poetics: Journal of Empirical Research on Culture, Media, and the Arts.
Victoria E. Rankin, Ph.D., is a sociology lecturer at UNC Charlotte. Dr. Rankin earned her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Virginia and specializes in equity in education, social inequality, parent engagement, and the sociology of education. Prior to joining UNC Charlotte in 2017, Dr.
William E. B. Sherman (B.A., Stanford University; M.A., University of California, Los Angeles; Ph.D., Stanford University) is an assistant professor in the Department of Religious Studies. He joined the UNC Charlotte faculty in fall of 2017. His research approaches the history and literature of Muslim societies, with a particular focus on premodern South and Central Asia.
