Biography:

Steven Sabol, professor of History at UNC Charlotte, earned his Ph.D. from Georgia State University in 1998. His most recent book, ‘The Touch of Civilization’: Comparing American and Russian Internal Colonization, was published in 2017 by the University Press of Colorado. In addition, he co-edited North Carolina’s Experience During the First World War (University of Tennessee Press, 2018) and in 2019 he co-edited and published three books in the Russia’s Great War and Revolutions’ series with Slavica Publishers.

He has published numerous articles in various scholarly journals, including Central Asian Survey, Nationalities Papers, and the Western Historical Quarterly. He was Editor-in-Chief of two scholarly journals, Nationalities Papers and First World War Studies.
