Working with communicators from UNC Charlotte’s colleges and divisions, University Communications provides strategic communications planning, which drives the development of projects and campaigns that encompass one or more of the following: media relations, creative services, web communications, news and information, broadcast and digital media, social media, issues management and crisis communications.
Communications that are focused on outcomes require an ongoing understanding of increasingly available analytics. UComm uses a variety of data to measure and help understand the effectiveness of content in reaching objectives and to guide improvements to our storytelling.
UComm provides leadership within the University’s cross-divisional collaborative approach to managing crises. From weather emergencies to safety and security, UComm advises on strategy and carries out communications tactics that keep both the campus and our community at large informed
Words remain the foundation of most of our work. The UComm team develops multi-channel content that advances strategic communications themes, is tailored to our audiences and presents primarily as news, feature storytelling or (select) event communications.
UComm utilizes a dynamic e-mail platform for official communications and in support of various campaigns. Analytics then inform our understanding of the effectiveness of both the content and the delivery in ways that help us ensure the most effective uses possible of email.
Amid today’s fast-paced information culture, the University sometimes must address issues that affect our community or could affect the institution’s reputation. The UComm team provides professional advice and leadership in strategies that are built upon UNC Charlotte’s institutional values and mission.
The UComm Creative Services team develops compelling design, photography, and multi-media content that tell the University story visually. We also provide the must-have brand-compliance review for communications from across campus.
If you see coverage of events at UNC Charlotte or our vast array of experts, it’s almost certain that the UComm Media Relations team has helped to make it happen. We build and manage relationship with media contacts at all levels. If it’s news, it should come through UComm.
From head shots, to event coverage, to brand images, UComm’s photographers cover the life of the University each day. Plus, a collection of campus images is available for general use.
UComm manages, and provides the strategy for the University’s powerful main social media channels. We also work collaboratively with colleagues across campus to help maximize engagement with compelling content.
The Digital Media Communications team produces award-winning video content to advance the UNC Charlotte brand. You see it across the web, on social media, our YouTube Channel, and on UNC Charlotte TV. Additional resources are available both on and off campus to support various other video needs.
UComm works collaboratively with OneIT to manage UNC Charlotte’s web presence. We oversee the design and content of the main pages of uncc.edu and we develop guidelines and templates for pages deep into the site.
