Brintnall (B.A., Fort Hays State University; J.D., Northeastern University School of Law; M.A., Pacific School of Religion; Ph.D., Emory University) joined the UNC Charlotte faculty in fall 2008 after serving as the inaugural post-doctoral fellow in religion and sexuality and a lecturer in film studies at Emory University.

William E. B. Sherman (B.A., Stanford University; M.A., University of California, Los Angeles; Ph.D., Stanford University) is an assistant professor in the Department of Religious Studies. He joined the UNC Charlotte faculty in fall of 2017. His research approaches the history and literature of Muslim societies, with a particular focus on premodern South and Central Asia.
